Sometimes the open.lock file is not deleted when shutting downDaedalus wallet causing Daedalus wallet to stop working properly. Deleting open.lock file is a solution for some types of problems encountered while using Daedalus. This help article shows you how to delete the open.lock file on your machine.
Delete the open.lock file
Windows
- Reboot your machine to ensure Daedalus is not running
- Type %appdata% on the explorer’s search bar, or alternatively go to:
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\ - Locate the Roaming folder and open it, find the Daedalus folder and open it.
- Locate the Wallet-1.0 folder and delete the open.lock file.
- Start Daedalus and allow it to Sync. You should be able to use Daedalus normally now.
macOS
- Reboot your machine to ensure Daedalus is not running
- On the Finder’s menu bar select Go
- Click Go to Folder…
- Type ~/Library/Application Support/Daedalus
- Note that if you cannot find the Daedalus folder your Library folder may be hidden. You will need to Unhide the Library folder.
- Locate the Wallet-1.0 folder andand delete the open.lock file.
- Start Daedalus and allow it to Sync. You should be able to use Daedalus normally now
