Cardano-node is linked to a runtime system (RTS) that can handle storage management, thread scheduling, profiling, memory usage, and so on.
On Daedalus 4.8.0 we introduce the cardano-node 1.33.0 and the ability to run it with preconfigured RTS flags that reduce the RAM usage. Note that it is possible to experience slightly higher CPU utilization when using RTS flags.
How to enable RTS flags
If your machine has less than 16GB in RAM, Daedalus 4.8.0 will show a warning at startup and gives you the option to run Daedalus using the RTS flags.
- Click on Enable and quit to enable RTS flags. Daedalus will quit and will run the node with RTS settings the next time you open it.
- Click on Decide later to postpone your decision and close the warning, Daedalus will run the node without RTS and start synchronization right away.
You can enable or disable RTS at any time from the main menu. Note that the node needs to restart when you change the settings.
1. Go to Help in the main menu
2. Click Using RTS flags to enable/disable
3. Confirm your selection
The diagnostics screen shows an evaluation of your machine against the system requirements and the status of RTS mode.
