Release date: 6 April 2020
The new Daedalus Flight candidate enables background syncing so that you can start using your wallets as soon as Daedalus is connected to the network, as well as fixing an address incompatibility issue and some other minor problems.
Syncing screen removed
The blockchain syncing screen has been removed and the main user interface is now available immediately after Daedalus connects to the Cardano network. Synchronization progress can be monitored via the syncing icon in the top-right part of the user interface. All Daedalus features are available during blockchain synchronization, except the sending of ada.
Resynchronize wallet with the blockchain
The ability to resynchronize a wallet with the blockchain has been removed, since it was only useful for the Daedalus Rewards wallet on the Shelley Incentivized Testnet.
Previously, wallet restoration allowed users to continue to the second step of the restoration process without selecting all necessary options on the first step. This issue is now fixed.
Creation of a receiving address
An initial receiving address is now created during the creation of a new wallet. New wallets now have one receiving address on the ‘Receive’ screen instead of having none.
The first release of Daedalus Flight was generating valid Cardano addresses, but those addresses were not compatible with the production version of Daedalus. This issue has now been fixed.
Possible Network Disconnection on Windows
On a Windows computer, Daedalus Flight may lose connection to the Cardano network if the internet connection is lost (such as by removing the network cable), or if the WiFi network is changed while Daedalus is running. This issue can be resolved by opening ‘Daedalus Diagnostics’ from the Help menu (or by clicking on any of the status icons on the loading screen) and clicking on ‘Restart Cardano node’.
Unexpectedly slow synchronization speeds
Daedalus Flight offers synchronization speeds that are generally much faster than previous versions of Daedalus. However, since this is a pre-release build, some users may experience unexpected variations in synchronization speeds when starting Daedalus Flight for the first time. If this happens, you can reset the connection by opening ‘Daedalus Diagnostics’ from the Help menu (or by clicking on any of the status icons on the loading screen) and clicking on ‘Restart Cardano node’. This should be done sparingly: repeated node restarts are unlikely to improve synchronization speeds.
