Daedalus 2.2.0-FC1 - Release Notes
This Daedalus update improves the process of obtaining stake pool off-chain data, using a centrally-hosted server managed and curated by the Cardano Foundation. In future updates, Daedalus users will be able to choose an alternative community stake pool server, if they prefer. This update also significantly improves both blockchain synchronization speed and connection time, and fixes some network connection issues. Daedalus Flight 2.2.0-FC1 also includes numerous enhancements and resolves some minor issues.
New features
Stake pool off-chain data aggregation
With this Daedalus update, stake pool off-chain data (name, ticker symbol, homepage, and description) is obtained from the IOHK stake pool metadata aggregation server (SMASH). Previously, Daedalus obtained off-chain stake pool data individually from each stake pool, which was time consuming and error-prone. IOHK policy dictates that no stake pools are blacklisted. In a future upgrade, Daedalus wallet users will be able to choose an alternative server in the configuration and access any community server of their choice.
Sending ada from Byron legacy wallets
This Daedalus update brings back the send form for Byron legacy wallets. This is for users who prefer transferring funds from Byron to Shelley wallets manually, instead of using the Byron to Shelley transfer feature.
Support for Yoroi Shelley wallets
This version of Daedalus enables the restoration of Yoroi Shelley wallets, which use a 15-word wallet recovery phrase. These wallets can be used simultaneously in Daedalus and Yoroi.
Creation and restoration of Shelley wallets available at all times
The previous version of Daedalus did not allow the creation and restoration of Shelley wallets until Daedalus had been synced with Shelley blocks. This limitation is now removed, so Shelley wallets can be created and restored regardless of the sync progress.
Performance improvements
Network connection and syncing performance improvements
This version of Daedalus includes significant improvements to sync times and epoch boundary transition times across all platforms, as well as a reduction in the time required to verify the previously-recorded blocks.
Fixed issues
Connection and sync issues
A number of fixes have been applied that will reduce incidences of “lost connection” and “failed to sync” error messages.
ITN rewards redemption reporting empty wallets
ITN rewards redemption was reporting empty wallets if used before Daedalus had been fully synced with blockchain. This issue is now resolved by allowing redemption only after Daedalus has fully synced with the blockchain.
Spending passwords with space characters
Daedalus previously did not allow spaces to be used as characters within spending passwords. This issue is now resolved.
Small fixes and improvements
This Daedalus update brings numerous small fixes and improvements:
- The loading spinner, displayed while stake pools are loading, was sometimes displayed twice. This issue is now resolved.
- Some improvements have been introduced to the UI copy in the delegation wizard and in the Byron to Shelley transfer feature.
- The “Byron” label had been wrongly translated into Japanese in the list of wallets in the Japanese version of Daedalus. Byron wallets are now labeled as “Byron” in that version.
- Messages displayed during the Daedalus shutdown sequence needed improvement for cases when numerous things are happening concurrently. This is now resolved.
