Daedalus Catalyst 1.0.0-CT release notes and instructions

Daedalus Catalyst is a special version of Daedalus, created specifically for ada holders who want to register and vote on Project Catalyst funds. Please note that Daedalus Catalyst connects to the Cardano Mainnet and transactions created in Daedalus Catalyst use real ada.

You can download Daedalus Catalyst by visiting https://daedaluswallet.io/en/catalyst/ and downloading the version that is compatible with your operating system.

New features

Voting center

Click the ballot icon to access the Voting center, where you can proceed with your registration.

Register to vote

Follow instructions in the Voting center to complete your registration. Take a screenshot of the QR code generated at the end of registration. Memorize or store the PIN code you will set. Otherwise, you might not be able to vote.

Fund2 registration instructions

These instructions are for users who are familiar with using Daedalus or Yoroi wallets. If you are an experienced stake pool operator (SPO) with technical experience and want to register to vote through a CLI that will enable you to register with your payment keys associated with your stake address, please follow this link for the codebase and instructions.

Prerequisites for registration

1. Download and install Daedalus Catalyst from the dedicated Daedalus Catalyst releases page.
2. Restore your wallet in Daedalus Catalyst. To restore your existing wallet follow this guide. Ensure that you do these steps in Daedalus Catalyst, not Daedalus Flight, or Daedalus mainnet!
3. Allow Daedalus Catalyst a period of time to synchronize with the blockchain.
4. Install the Catalyst Voting application on your mobile device:
   For Android users: Download “Catalyst Voting” from the Google Play store.
   For IOS users: Download “Catalyst Voting” from the IOS store.
5. You are all set!

Registration

1. Open Daedalus Catalyst and click the voting icon on the left-hand menu bar.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
3. When a QR code is displayed, take a screenshot of the QR code, or a photo with your mobile phone and save it so it can be accessed later. You will need it in a few days. Once you close the QR screen, you will not be able to access the QR code again. So please ensure you have an image of it saved.
4. On your mobile device, open the Catalyst Voting app and click the yellow “Register to vote” area.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
   
6. Click “Scan QR code” and scan the QR code generated by the Daedalus Catalyst wallet.
7. Enter the PIN code you used to encrypt your QR code. Please memorize the PIN (or store it in a safe place) since it will be used every time you access the Catalyst Voting app and confirm the voting actions.
8. Ensure that you receive a confirmation from Catalyst Voting for registration to be complete.

Voting

1. Wait for an announcement that Voting is starting via email or on the Catalyst Announcements Telegram Channel.
2. Once voting begins, open Catalyst Voting in your mobile device.
3. Wait up to 10 minutes for your voting power to show up - it will get there.
4. Voting power not showing up. Uninstall and reinstall the App and rescan your QR code.
5. You can sort proposals by Impact score, proposal cost or random order.
6. Click on proposal, and click “Yes” or “No” on proposals.
7. You don’t have to submit all proposals to the blockchain one-by-one, you can vote on many proposals, and submit all of them together at once, by going to the “My votes” screen and clicking “Submit my votes”
8. For each proposal you vote for, you vote with all your voting power. For example, if you voting power is 100, and you vote “Yes” on a proposal, the proposal will receive 100 “Yes” votes. If you vote “No” on a different proposal, the other proposal will receive 100 “No” votes.
9. As long as voting period has not ended, You can change your mind, and vote again on a proposal. The vote that will count would be the last vote you casted before end of the voting period.

Known Issues

Complete Registration to receive voting power	After voting starts: Application requests again to complete registration even after user scanned QR code previously	Scan the saved QR code again.
0 Voting power	After user successfully scanned qr code and provided correct PIN, voting power is 0 even if voting has already started	1. Uninstall the app. 2. Reinstall the app. 3. Scan saved QR code.
Cannot Decrypt your QR code	Decrypting QR Code is in progress forever	You are using an unsupported device. 1. Share your device model and OS with tech support. 2. Install application on another mobile device.  3. Scan saved QR code.
Registration was not completed	User successfully scanned QR and is ready to vote however application shows that registration is not complete because of insufficient funds.	1. Uninstall the app. 2. Reinstall the app. 3. Scan saved QR code. *If it does now work send QR code and PIN to tech support.
Error casting votes → Popup is displayed in a loop	When user casts votes, application can show popup: “Error Casting Votes“ which cannot be discarded.	Click outside the popup window to close error. *Report issue to tech support.

Final notes

Daedalus Catalyst is made exclusively for usage for Fund2 voting registration. It does not work for future fund registration, or any other purpose.
