Daedalus Wallet Cardano Node Crashed Error

Problem

Cardano Node does not shut down gracefully as expected but is killed forcefully by Daedalus potentially causing data corruption.

You would see one or both of these screens:

Cause

Daedalus is designed to force the Cardano node to shut down with a 10-second delay. 10 seconds is not long enough in many instances so Cardano node is forcefully killed. 

Solution

a) Restart your computer (to kill all Daedalus processes)

- Launch Daedalus again and if the issue still persists go on to b) below

b) Uninstall Daedalus application (no need to delete DB or Wallet folder)

- Download latest version of Daedalus wallet from https://daedaluswallet.io/#download

- Install Daedalus wallet this is much simpler and faster than deleting all data and starting again which is what you do in c) below

c) Delete the contents of the state directory

d) If a to c does not work... delete everything and start all over again see:
